NEWS FROM THE BOARD: Membership total is 190. There will be no dues adjustment for August.
We would like to acknowledge the LGA for the wonderful landscaping job they completed behind the patio. It looks beautiful and is a nice addition to our clubhouse area.
A couple of course improvement projects are now underway. The LGA is completing a mogul in front of #7 green in the old sand pit. It will be sodded and will add some strategy to this hole. Also the 2006 fall Poker group has donated money to build a white teebox on #11. We hope it turns out as well as our ladies tee constructed on #18 last year. When you see these folks, thank them for these donations. For now, play these areas as ground under repair.
As a courtesy to our restaurant staff please call ahead to notify them when you will be bringing a large party of 8 or more to the restaurant.
All men are encouraged to sign up for the Stroke Play Club Championship. This will be held on the weekend of August 18-19. There will be five divisions, a place for everyone to feel competitive, so we expect all men to sign up for this fun tournament. The divisions are: Open – all golfers under 40 and those declaring for the championship Mid-Senior – golfers 40 and older Senior – golfers 55 and older Super Senior – golfers 65 and older Net – all golfers with USGA handicaps In this tournament, golfers may “play down” a division to compete with some younger folks.
On behalf of the membership of Rolling Hills Country Club, I would like to offer CONGRATULATIONS to Ron Mangold for winning the Arkansas State Match Play title July 22. This is a very prestigious honor. For those of you who haven’t watched Ron play golf, it is impressive and you need to follow him around sometime. He is truly one of the best golfers in the state of Arkansas and with his recent successes has brought some attention to our part of the state. Thank you, Ron. As you all know, Ron has had a very big 2006-2007 golf year. He qualified for the 2006 USGA Amateur Public Links championship in Washington and made the finals of the Pinnacle Exceptional Driver competition that was broadcast on ESPN. The next time you see Ron, shake his hand, give him a pat on the back and tell him how proud you are to have a state champion representing our club.
