NEWS FROM THE BOARD:  Summer is here and with it comes the heat of the day.

Our pool is in great shape thanks to Becky O’Donnell and others who volunteered their time and efforts.  Come out and enjoy it when you can.

If you choose to play golf, please sign in and observe signs on the course about fairway play.  The course is in great shape with thanks to Jeff and his staff.  Please remember that members are responsible for their guests at all times.

We have several events planned for the next few months.  Check your bulletin and try to come out for some great times.

LGA NEWS:  Scheduled play for the month of July:

There will be a Mixed Couples Tournament on Saturday, August 5.  Please watch for the sign up sheet in the pro shop soon.

 

The LGA has had a new tee box built on #18 and it will be ready for use the first of July.  We would like to say thank you to all the individuals who helped put it all together; it looks great.

 

MGA NEWS:  There is a sign up sheet in the pro shop for the Annual Match Play Championship.  This is a handicapped event and deadline for sign up is July 16.  Those without handicaps will play their match as scratch.  Brackets will be drawn and posted on Monday, July 17, to begin play.

 

Saturday, July 29th:  Remax Long Drive Local Qualifier:  12:00 – 4:00PM

Sunday, July 30th:    Pinnacle Exceptional Driver Local Qualifier:  12:00 – 6:00PM

These events will be an enjoyable afternoon of entertainment.  Come out and watch golfers from across the state and regional area try to qualify and move on to the regional qualifiers for these competitions.  Volunteers are needed.  E-mail Nathan Pugh at njp353@yahoo.com or notify Keith Futrell if you can help.  We’ll need people to pick range balls, parking volunteers, concession sales, cart shuttles, etc.  This will be a big fund raiser for our club and anyone who can help will be greatly appreciated.  Everything will be held around the areas occupied by holes 4, 5, and 6.

NEW ENTERTAINMENT EVENT!!!   Take a break from those hot summer nights on Saturday, July 15th for a “Night with the Rat Pack”.  Frank, Dean, Sammy, Peter and Joey may not be there, but we’ll still have a swinging good time without ‘em.  Whether you’re dressed up in your best Rat Pack attire or just coming off the golf course, please join us for a special candlelight dinner in the “Hole In One Restaurant”.  There will be drink specials, cigars, and Jazz Music in the bar all night.  But the party will really get started when we dance the night away to the sounds of Sinatra, Big Band, and Swing music from 9:00 to midnight.  Join us for this exciting new event!

PRO SHOP NEWS:  We would like to thank Richard Blount and KFC for donating the wall soap dispensers for the course restrooms.

HATS OFF to Lawrence Bergman for his HOLE IN ONE on #15 at about 11:30 on Wednesday morning, June 28!!!

BAR NEWS:  Try your hand at Texas Hold ‘Em.  Come out and join in the fun on Tuesday nights at 6:30 at the Bar (no card games on July 4).
